COLEFORD COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH

Community Speed Watch is a partnership between the Mendip and South Somerset Community Safety Partnership, Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Mendip District Council, participating Town and Parish Councils and groups of Volunteers from the Community.

A Speed Watch consists of local residents who are willing to volunteer a small amount of time each week to monitor speeds with speed detection equipment.  The Project relies on the regular and enthusiastic participation of volunteers wanting to improve road safety and quality of life in Mendip.

After recent training, three volunteers from Coleford completed their first Speed Watch session on the evening of Tuesday 9th August.  Volunteers were out on Anchor Road and during the hour session traffic was counted at 221 vehicles with 15 vehicles recorded as speeding through the 30mph zone.
